Obviously, the most important aspect of creating firefighter patches is that they must be readily visible. If there is a fire hazard or some other issue, people need to be able to locate a trained professional quickly. This is especially important for those who may find themselves in a smoke-filled building. It can be difficult to see anything at all through a cloud of smoke, so it's important that a patch be brightly colored and easily identifiable. At the same time, these patches need to be able to stand up to the abuse that regular exposure to fire and smoke will no doubt inflict on any garment.
