I remember the 77 Jamboree like it was yesterday. I was part of the San Diego, Ca contingent. We toured DC, New York, Philadelphia and Gettysburg before getting to the Jamboree. The First Aid team I was part of took the Gold Medal after the Team before us in the Finals had the lashings fall apart on their stretcher. All in all....I'm 51 now and dealing with Cancer. But those memories STILL bring a smile to my face !!

Wow, thanks for putting this up!! It was very helpful as I am attending the 2013 National Scout Jamboree!! I had no idea that there would be stealing going on :( and will guard my patches closer thanks to this! If there is anyone out there who knows where to buy those patch sheets for a notebook, please let me know!! I have a lot of patches but want to find the sheet protectors that are special for patches. Thanks!

I worked in the "print shop" at the '73 Jamboree, we shared a trailer with the radio station KBSA, which I think was the only air conditioned place at the Jamboree! I just saw 1973 youtube video of Phil Ostrander, who was in charge of KBSA, I think his nickname was "Peachy". I found a Tom Lehrer album in the KBSA collection which had the scouting parody "Be Prepared" on it. I talked the DJ Brian (Biggitt, I think) into doing the night radio sign off the air with that song. The BSA bosses were not amused and they pulled me out of my tent about 2 in the morning. I thought I was probably getting sent home. However, Peachy (Phil) was responsible for chewing me out, and when he confronted me one-on-one, he was very serious at first, then he just burst out laughing and said "That is the funniest damn thing I have ever seen!" We packed so many good times into that week!
