What is vector format?

Computer displays are made from small dots called pixels. The picture is built from these dots. As the image is magnified, it becomes grainy.

Vector graphic files store the lines, shapes and colors that make up an image as a mathematical formula. The mathematical formula determines where the dots that make up the image should be placed for the best results when displaying the image. These formulas can produce an image scalable to any size and detail.

Above is an example showing the effect of vector graphics versus raster/bitmap graphics. The original vector-based illustration is at the left. The upper-right image illustrates magnification of 7x as a vector image. The lower-right image illustrates the same magnification as a raster/bitmap image. Raster/bitmap images are based on pixels and thus scale with loss of clarity, while vector-based images can be scaled indefinitely without degrading.

How long will it take to receive my artwork?
Artwork turnaround is generally 1-3 business days, depending on the detail of the submitted artwork and the workload of the Art Department.
